2020 Wrap Up

My name is Chiara and I am a Bookworm.

Well, happy new year to you all!

I hope it was a good one!

2020 has been an … interesting year to say the least and I am so glad we get to turn over a new leaf.

My main hope for 2021 is better. I don’t want amazing, brilliant, spectacular, perfect or even life-altering, I just want it to be a smidge better than last year.

But before I go into all my hopes and dreams for this next year. lest talk about all my reading achievements in 2020.

My Goodreads target was 30 books, the same as I had read the years before and with just a few days left I managed to double that goal and got to 61 books!

I never though it possible for myself but I am proud of myself.

According to Goodreads those 61 books contained a total of 20618 pages, the smallest being 80 pages long, One Night Stand by Clara Bayard, and the longest being 491 pages long, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, though most of my books averaged at 338 pages.

The most popular book I read this year was Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown and the least popular book was Her Turn by Allison Jones. Both very interesting books. Her Turn was my last book of the year and comes out on 21st January. Review to come soon!

My average rating was 4.3 stars on Goodreads, which may mean I am over-generous, or may mean that I have just read some excellent books this year. I’ll let you decide on that one.

Now, down to my favourite book of the year. This is such a hard question, so I’m going to split it into a few different categories.

The Book That Took Me By Surprise

The book I can’t stop thinking about is Date Me, Bryson Keller by Kevin van Whye. I dont know what made this book different but I am constantly wanting to reread it. I may have to soon.

The Book with the Best Plot Twists

The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. I can’t believe that I hadn’t read it sooner. It was a romance that I just couldn’t predict how it would go, and I’m quite good at predicting romances.

The Book That Was A Game Changer

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston. I loved every moment of Amari. It really changed how I approach middle grade fiction. Before the epitome of middle grade was Rick Riordan and now I think Alston may have knocked Uncle Rick off the top spot. I can’t wait for book 2 to come out in the, hopefully, near future.

And I think that maybe all I have to tell you of 2020. I could list all the books that I read this year but I think it would take all day and I don’t think you have time to read that.
